The room stock in Clark County declined by 581 in 2006 and grew by 342 rooms in 2007 for a total of 132,947 rooms. In 2008 we expect room growth to increase by 3.0 percent to 136,935 rooms and accelerate to 15.8 percent in 2009 for a total of 158,571 rooms by year end.
According to population estimates made by Clark County Comprehensive Planning, the population in Clark County grew to 1,996,542 in 2007. This reflects population growth of 4.4 percent over the 2006 estimate of 1,912,654. In 2008 we expect population to grow by 2.6 percent and another 4.0 percent in 2009. That will bring Clark County's population to 2,048,700 in 2008 and 2,130,648 in 2009.
Visitor volume grew by .72 percent in 2007 to 39,196,761 -- an increase of 281,812 visitors over the 2006 total. In 2008 we expect visitor volume to decrease at a rate of 4.3 percent to 37,511,300 visitors. In 2009 we expect the number of visitors to increase by 2.7 percent for a total visitor count of 38,524,105.
Total Clark County gaming revenue for 2007 was $10,868.3 million. This reflects a 2.2 percent increase over the 2006 total of $10,630.5 million. In 2008 we expect negative growth of 3.6 percent for a total of $10,477.0 million by year end. In 2009 we expect positive growth of 4.7 percent for a total "gaming win" of $10,969.4 million.
